Brief Note on Avoiding Burnout

As a "generalist" fundraiser I've been with different organizations over the years and most recently, I've learned yet again, not to "marry" the organization that has hired me. When things don't work out, God is usually moving me. Recently I left a position I thought would be my "until-I-retire" position, but God had other ideas. After 4 years with this organization and year-over-year fundraising success, I had a car accident that led to a mutual parting. One week later, my dad had a massive stroke. At my new position, I am 7 minutes away from his hospital. My old position. I would have been an hour and a half away. I once moved to Connecticut to take a position, 10 hours from my home state. Despite a successful gala, this didn't work out and of course I beat myself up about it. But then, five months later we went into COVID lockdown. I was home with family and friends, working virtually and spared most of the harsh impact of those years. #WorkHard #HaveFaith #TrustGod
